SCCOC Ladies Pajama Party a Huge Success!

The Sugar Creek Church of Christ Ladies Ministry enjoyed a wonderful mini retreat this past weekend at the University Hilton Hotel. The accomodations were excellent, the devotional was inspiring, the fellowship was awesome, and the ladies were pampered to perfection by licensed massage therapists and a certified reflexologist.

The theme for the evening was Purging and Purification. Sister Sandy Chislom led the devotion and Sister Mary Carter led the ladies in several selections of spirit filled songs, including the favorite, "How Blessed You Are."

Our ladies were pampered by Janet Quinn, Licensed Masssage Therapist; Darby Adare, Certified Reflexologist; and Nisaaa Ali, Licensed Massage Therapist.

I would personally like to give Marilyn Johnson my vote for being the most stylish in her pajama attire! Marilyn went G R E E N! Check out Marilyn and her slippers! You go, girl!

Other well coordinated ladies were Yvonne Green, Atoya Harvin, Lashonda Henry and Roslyn Cheatham.

After a late night, the ladies gathered for a leisurely breakfast. Sister Chislom would like to thank everyone for their participation, as we look forward to repeating this event in the near future! Also, a special thanks to Sister Singletary for the wonderful strawberry shortcake, yum!!!!!

After this weekend, we can all say that we are stronger Sisters With A New Spirit!

WOB Interest

What is WOB? WOB is a new book club where sisters in Christ gather on a monthly basis to discuss Women of the Bible.

The book, Women of the Bible by Ann Spangler and Jean E. Syswerda, is a one year devotional study of women in scripture. Women of the Bible focuses on fifty-two remarkable women in Scripture--women whose struggles to live with faith and courage are not unlike our own. Far from being cardboard characters, these women encourage us through their failures as well as their successes. You'll see how God acted in surprising and wonderful ways to draw them--and you--to himself. This year-long devotional offers a unique method to help you slow down and savor the story of God's unrelenting love for his people, offering a fresh perspective that will nourish and strengthen your personal communion with him.

Women of the Bible can be purchased from LifeWay Christian Bookstores at a cost of $18.99. If you are interested in participating in the WOB Book Club, sign up by April 20 by sending an email to sccocministries@hotmail.com

Ladies Retreat-June 3-5, 2005

What a wonderful time we had in beautiful, historic Savannah, GA the first week of June. There's no place like Savannah in spring. This retreat was coordinated by Sisters Sandy Chislom, Tangela Cook and Thomesena Washington.

We participated in morning and evening devotionals, enjoyed great fellowship, and if I say so myself, we dined sufficiently(smile). Some of the ladies visited a near by beach, some shopped and some took a trip to the River Walk. All and all, we had a time to remember. We ended our retreat with a visit to Liberty City Church of Christ where we were greeted with open arms.

Can't wait until we do it again!

New Self Image

The image of myself that I am a spirit, I have a soul, and I live in a body; my spirit is the real me, my soul is my personality, and my body is the house that both my spirit and soul lives in on earth; knowing that Jesus is a threefold spiritual being and He wants me to conform to His image in my threefold being!

With that said, if we don't take care of our bodies, we will not have a place for our spirit and soul to reside. The kick off of our new curriculum, God's Love Bank, has inspired the SWANS to take their image seriously and begin a Ladies Weight Loss Challenge. Kudos to Sister Roslyn Nail for coordinating our challenge. The Ladies are motivate and ready to start loosing! Let's stay motivated and competitive (smile).

Day 1: It All Starts With God

Thinking About My Purpose

Point to Ponder: It's not about me.

Question to Consider: In spite of all the advertising around me, how can I remind myself that life is really about living for God, not myself?
